And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
(Raymond Carver)
After a long period of preparation working in nursing homes for the elderly, Rubidori Manshaft reconnects her memories in this long “field” journey. Developing her past works, through the narratives she further develops her artistic research on the passage of memory, absence and loneliness. She starts from there to question the body, its political meaning. On care. On time. On fear. On making. On the loss of self, strength, role and sometimes even memory.
Alcune cose da mettere in ordine is the story of a woman just over the threshold of sixty who begins to ask questions about life’s journey, an echo of us all. We recognize ourselves in her words, in her thoughts that are perhaps ours as well, we are displaced by her surprising ability to reshuffle them, use them, appropriate them, forget them, invent them in place of what in the mind is foul. Thoughts that, like actual happenings, become co-protagonists in this story about living, about dreams and disillusions, about memories and regrets.
In this sublime reversal of reality we will be transported compellingly into a new time that may belong to us. An inner and real journey toward something, an assemblage of events, poignant, ironic, in the game that life plays in an attempt to reshape a human dimension that today perhaps is lost.
