An exploration of violence and the emancipation of Blackness in our present moment.

Black is a dance, a visual and musical chronicle, narrated through street dance styles of the African continent and the African diaspora in the US (such as coupé-décalé, ndomboló, afrohouse or krump).
Black is an invitation to reflect on violence and the emancipation of Blackness in contemporary society through a body that speaks, questions, and unsettles. A body that is both wound and celebration at once.

Drawing on recent history, such as the Black Lives Matter movement and the murder of George Floyd, the Ivorian performer Oulouy rethinks the Black African body in the Western world. This iconic performance is regarded as an anthem for the Afro-European artistic community.
