María del Mar Suárez, known as “La Chachi”, graduated as an actress and dancer in Malaga, her hometown. Trained in flamenco with La Lupi, she has been developing since 2008 a singular trstage language that combines flamenco, physical theatre, dramaturgy, and contemporary dance. She belongs to a generation of artists who are renewing flamenco – alongside El Niño de Elche, Israel Galván and Rocío Molina – by pushing it towards experimental and contemporary forms.

Her solo La gramática de los mamíferos received several distinctions, including three Premios PAD (Mejor Espectáculo, Mejor Interprete and Mejor Espectáculo de Guerrilla / sin subvención) in 2017 and the Premio Lorca intérprete femenina in 2018. She further consolidated her international recognition with Los Inescalables Alpes, buscando a Currito (Godot Dance Award 2022) which toured extensively and is featured in the FIT 2026 programme. With Taranto Aleatorio and Lâs Alegrías Aleatorias, she explores traditional forms of the flamenco tablao in an experimental approach (the traditional space where flamenco is performed).
