Through this inquiry, his projects set themselves at the frontier of the performing arts, visual arts and curatorial projects generating dialectics between memory-oblivion-spectator-technology-stage-scene-territory. His work, thus, creates dialog in a global manner \u2013 changing locations, languages, mediums and disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>His works have been presented in theatres, museums, and unconventional spaces \u2014 including abandoned buildings, railway stations, factories, churches, and forests \u2014 as well as at major international institutions such as the Museo Reina Sof\u00eda, MALBA, MoMA, and Lincoln Center. His main projects include <em data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"721\">Museum of Fiction I. EMPIRE <\/em>(which has been presented as a film projection exclusively at FIT Festival 2021), <em data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"736\">The Forests<\/em>, <em data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"753\">Constructions<\/em>, <em data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"779\">TeatroSOLO-LONEtheater<\/em>, <em data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"792\">Distancia<\/em>, <em data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"805\">dramaHOME<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"835\">Cl\u00ednica de la Obsesi\u00f3n<\/em>, combining performance, installation, video, theatre, and opera.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"902\" data-end=\"1465\">From 2007 to 2014, Umpierrez was coordinator of the Theatre Section at the Rector Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). During this period, he developed major interdisciplinary curatorial projects bringing together artists from the visual arts, theatre, and film, including <em data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1232\">Operas Primas<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1234\" data-end=\"1254\">Laboratorio Teatro<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1286\">Panorama en Work in Progress<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1341\">Intervenciones\/Rojas<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1365\">Proyecto Cl\u00e1sico<\/em>. Through initiatives such as <em data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1410\">Operas Primas<\/em>, he helped discover more than 40 emerging artists.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1852\">In 2014, he founded the <em>Festival Internacional de Dramaturgia<\/em>, a co-production with international and leading cultural institutions in Buenos Aires. In 2018, he created <em>Plataforma Fluorescente<\/em>, a transdisciplinary programme promoting collaboration between creators and institutions from different geographical and cultural contexts (<a href=\"https:\/\/plataformafluo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">plataformafluo.com<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1854\" data-end=\"2294\">His career has received significant international recognition. He was selected for the <em>Rolex Mentor &amp; Prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Arts Initiative<\/em>, through which he developed a collaboration and artistic dialogue with Canadian artist Robert Lepage. He has also received several awards and distinctions, including the <em>Iberescena Scholarship for Young Creators<\/em> and an honourable mention for playwriting from Argentina\u2019s <em>Fondo Nacional de las Artes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As part of his practice, Umpierrez develops curatorial projects that build networks and local-regional-global communities, creating dialogue between different disciplines, institutions, and geographical contexts.
